OpenShift Configuration Platform
One customer came to us with the order to build an OpenShift platform that works independently of direct Internet access (“AirGapped”). OpenShift is a container platform developed by Redhat based on Kubernetes, which is particularly impressive due to its extensive additional functionality, integrability in companies and operational security.
Configurationplatform for OpenShift
When setting up OpenShift, integration into a company is a key part of the task. This is independent of the type of OpenShift installation (bare metal, in the cloud, etc.). In the case of an AirGapped installation, additional steps must also be taken during configuration in order to obtain an executable and updatable OpenShift environment.
We have provided a platform for a customer with which an AirGapped OpenShift can be set up and configured in a clearly structured way.
The aim was
- to have the configuration done in few, self-explanatory steps,
- to work on the basis of classic, freely available DevOps tools for OpenShift (ArgoCD, HELM, OC),
- work in a clearly versioned manner in order to be able to develop the OpenShift platform in steps (versions),
- support multiple clusters in parallel,
- support different deployment methods via GitOps, manually with a client, pipelining for build and update.
We successfully introduced this platform at the customer. The platform helps the OpenShift team to understand the configuration in a complex environment such as OpenShift in order to be able to make adjustments quickly and effectively.
